Nanotechnology is the branch of applied science that involves controlling materials, at an infinitesimal level: from 1 – 100 millionths of a millimetre. This type of process has only been available for a few decades, but it is already transforming the world we live in, even the furniture sector.

With its ongoing pursuit of new materials, Kristalia presents Fenix-NTM®: a thermo-laminate with unique properties, produced in Italy with the aid of nanotechnology. NTM is the symbol for NanoTech Matt, namely, a matt anti-reflective effect that gives the surface of this material warm appeal and a soft touch, making it highly resistant to scratches, abrasion, heat, stains, impact, detergents and solvents. Kristalia has chosen Fenix-NTM® to make a new version of the Sushi table, previewed at the Salone del Mobile di Milano 2013.

The very thin top, the distinguishing feature of this design project, acquires the charm of a completely innovative material, in a matt black colour that is so deep and intense that it appears to absorb light. The sturdiness, dimensional stability, durability and the water-repellent and anti-bacterial properties of the top in Fenix-NTM® make it ideal for a variety of uses and settings: in a living area, kitchen or workspace, it always maintains its unique aesthetic, visual and tactile appeal. Research by Kristalia and nanotechnology have brought a new and subtle emotion to our everyday living spaces.
