Kristalia has for years now been investing in various forms of research which especially concentrate on the testing of new materials to be used in the manufacture of new products.

CU picks up on and develops the technology used for the manufacture of the frame of the Face chair.

In this case, research has focussed on testing a core in a lightweight and cost-effective material, and on its innovative way of being suspended inside the mould.

Whereas normal inner cores in metal or wood are fastened with spacer pins that leave marks on the surface of the moulded product, with this new system Kristalia produces a piece with no exterior signs of moulding.

A perfectly closed polyurethane shell whose low-density inner core makes it possible to manufacture a more lightweight piece (about 40% less) with the same resistance of a full element, and with the same quality and durability of the outer surface.
