Carlo Bartoli won the Compasso D’Oro
Architect Carlo Bartoli was awarded the 24th ADI Compasso d’Oro Career Achievement Award.
Carlo Bartoli was awarded, by the ADI International Jury (Cinzia Anguissola d’Altoè Scacchetti; Gabriella Bottini; Walter Maria de Silva; Toshiyuki Kita; Mugendi K. M’Rithaa; Marc Sadler; Yossef Schvetz), with the following reason:
“For having known in his own professional experience how to combine a form of poetry that is constantly in search of the essence of the creative act together with a particular capacity for empathizing with the growth and development needs of numerous furnishing companies. His contributions to the businesses he has worked with have always been original and innovative thereby contributing to their success. A rigorous design journey, declined in different thematic areas, sober and measured and consistently contributing to the enrichment of Italian design culture”.
The ADI Compasso d’Oro Career Achievement Award is assigned to personalities, companies and institutions who have made an outstanding contribution to the areas of design, research, education, manufacture or distribution. Carlo Bartoli was in good company: Ron Arad, Luciano Benetton, James Dyson, Makio Hasuike, Ugo La Pietra, Fabio Lenci, Antonio Macchi Cassia, Ezio Manzini, Franco Moschini, Roberto Pezzetta, Rodrigo Rodriquez, were also awarded the Career Achievement Awards.
The Compass, given as award, is the one invented by Adalbert Göringer to measure the Golden Section. The ADI Compasso d’Oro Award is the oldest and most influential international design award in Europe.
